Assistive Technology Resource Center
UCP Central PA serves as one of nine Assistive Technology Resource Centers (ATRCs), the purpose of which is to expand the awareness of and access to assistive technology (AT) in the Central Pennsylvania area.
We achieve this through:
AT demonstrations are hands-on opportunities to learn more about different devices so individuals and families can make an informed choice about what will work best for them.
Pennsylvania residents of any age and ability can borrow AT devices, free of charge, to try at work, school, home, or in their neighborhoods. This enables individuals with disabilities (and their families and caregivers, as appropriate) to make an informed decision before a device is purchased.
Information and referral services are provided to help educate people about available AT devices and providers. The ATRC participates in events to provide information to individuals and providers about the potential of AT devices and services.
Training and Technical Assistance:
UCP Central PA offers training to service providers in order to increase their AT-related knowledge and skills. UCP also provides technical assistance to public and private agencies to develop and improve policies related to access to AT devices and services.
